3 quick and easy tips to help you thrive when it comes to meal prepping:
1. Plan Ahead:
Sit down and plan out what you are going to eat and when you are going to eat. By staying organised and have something to work off makes the process a whole lot easier because you don’t have to guess. By planning ahead you take away the mental stress of figuring out what you are going to eat.
2. Cook in bulk:
Most protein can be stored in an air tight contain for up to 2-3 days, same for most types of food (e.g sweet potato, rice etc.) Yes cooking large quantities can take a little longer than usual but the more you do it the more efficient you will become. Another benefit of cooking bulk is that you don’t need to cook as often as you usually would because everything is going to be ready and right and in front of you; all you need to do is warm it up!
3. Use all the appliances you have:
Yeah everyone hates washing dishes and obviously wiping down the kitchen. However when you use all your appliances in your kitchen you’ll be amazed at the what you can achieve and how much food you can prepare. Use your oven, your air-fryer, your stove etc. For example in a rice cooker you can multitask and cook rice and steam veggies at the same time or you can use your oven to roast veggies, cook your protein on a large scale. Imagine if you had your air-fryer, oven and stove function at once then you’ll find that clean up is going to be easier as well as amount of food that you can prepare in a single cook would be enough to feed an army!
Meal prepping is something a lot of people avoid because they find it easier to take it one day at a time and pretty much “wing it”. Then you pace up and down the kitchen searching in the fridge and pantry for something to eat and 9/10 times you end up eating something that essentially make you even more hungry and unsettled. Meal prepping has so many perks so why not take part in it. ‘Failing to plan, it planning to fail.’
