Jessica Bedelis Joined Terrific Fitness (TF) in January of this year through some family contacts that also are members. Jessica is about to turn 40 and says that in the last couple of months, she has really turned the corner and has done something for herself to radically improve her health, fitness and shape of her body that she found hard to do previously.
Jessica is a very busy single mother of 3 children in primary school, and a school teacher. She has had to make the hectic transition because of Covid19 and since January, find the time for herself to pursue a lifestyle of healthy living. All because she want to make a difference for herself.
Since Jessica has been with TF, she has achieved some amazing results that is shaping her physically and mentally. Some of these include:
- Increasing her cardio fitness levels (not getting puffed out as much)
- Recognized her eating habits and excluding foods successfully that she knew were causes of irritation and hindered her weight loss and shaping goals.
- Found options in training regimes and looks forward week by week
- Satisfaction in her results that the training and nutrition is working
- Being part of a group of like-minded people and watch their success and motivation
- Developed a sense of confidence and achievement from keeping to an exercise routine
- She has developed an enthusiasm of challenging exercise regimes to take on
Before the Covid19 lockdown. Jessica came to the group sessions with such enthusiasm it resonated to the other members and coaches. Always ready to take on another class. During Covid19 Jessica has made great use of the online app, using the weekly updated programs such as express fat burner (XFB), Kettle Bell Workouts, and Cardio Boxing, and participating in zoom classes. Jessica makes time in amongst the busy schedule of a household of children, home schooling and work as a teacher from home, because she has made and dedicated an effort to do something for herself. Every day has developed into an active day for Jessica. When family time is important the training switches to walks with the family and she now has a bike of her own to ride with the family (not just walk alongside)
Jessica’s partner and children now see her dedication to exercise and acknowledge in their own way that it’s important to her, and in a small way, participate in her success. It’s great to hear how Jessica has made and worked in a difference to benefit her in many ways.
Jessica met Coach Terri and Coach Steve who guided Jessica into the group classes and help her find her feet and understanding of her body through a Body Composition Analysis and initial Bootcamp nutrition plan. This began a new insight for Jessica about healthy habits and how her body worked. She developed an interest in her nutrition and how she felt and the relationship to physical exercise and training.
Although only being able to attend one group session a week, Jessica’s love for training in the TF environment grew so strongly, any opportunity to attend a second class became a wanting opportunity to take.
During Covid19, Jessica does 4-5 app/zoom sessions a week and 4-5 family walks/rides a week also. For Jessica, it has become more than just the physical training but the interaction with other members, their success stories, enthusiasms, and reflections of what they enjoy when the group comes together to train.
Through Covid19, Jessica has taken advantage of the training workout programs provided on the downloadable training app. Jessica looks forward every week to the new workout programs and an element of challenge. Occasionally she repeats a session to push the limits further. Fitness for Jessica has become a challenge for her to set her own levels higher each time.
Jessica’s knowledge and application in nutrition has given her an insight in bettering her health. Jessica now knows she is gluten sensitive as a result of food elimination trial during Nutrition Coaching. Through the guidance of her coaches Jess has addressed her eating habits, has developed a better understanding of what does and doesn’t contain gluten and what food she can use as substitutes. Nutrition Coaching has helped Jessica become more aware of foods with added sugar and has replaced the high sugar fizzy drinks with better alternatives.
This growing knowledge of nutrition and eating habits has made a huge difference and over the course since joining TF in January, has seen her drop weight and reduce her waist line and toned her legs. These changes have given Jessica the confidence and the well-being to enthusiastically carry on a training regime that challenges her and inspires her and her kids. Her kids have noticed something different about their mum and they’re loving the changes.
Jessica’s story in her words:
“There are three members in TF that I have a family relationship to. They have been a member of TF since 2017. So I eventually caught wind of their success; weight loss, health, their learning of nutrition, and community. I gave it a try in January and since then it’s been awesome.
Although the group training at the studio was about two months, the training online on the app and zoom have been awesome, I love them. Every week I wait in anticipation for the weekly workout update for new challenges.
Before January I wasn’t doing anything like this. Before TF it was hard to motivate and find something interesting to do for myself. I hadn’t made time for training before, but now because of training before and after Covid19, I make or find time to get in and do the sessions, and to be part of the zoom session. I’m not bored anymore. I always look forward to what is next and rise to the challenge or participate with others because it’s a great team environment.
I have a better sense of structure to health and well-being, about exercise and nutrition, that has come from the coaches, the chat amongst members, the posts on Facebook group about the other members sharing their stories and what they eat and food they buy. I’ve really got a good sense of how food affects me, how gluten was making me bloated and the awareness of how to substitute foods in for the foods that where causing me trouble. I starting putting myself first for my own health. Making sure I had time or made time for exercise and planning or being more aware of my food habits. The community involvement and coaches helped me with that. I look back now and realize how fit I am now compared to before and I want to get better at it. It’s made me mentally strong also.”
