Leanne joined Terrific Fitness (TF) in late 2018. A dedicated health care professional, single mum and she used to play NFNL, Leanne was looking to improve elements of her health. She started with one session a week. Over the years that has grown in number, going from Basic Package to Gold Package and now Leanne uses the Platinum Package and really takes advantages of doing as many sessions as work and family allows her to do. You will catch Leanne to 2 sometimes 3 sessions in a row on some evenings.
Leanne has steadily gained more confidence in exploring the diversities of her body and capabilities. It’s developed from her own self challenges that she has conquered. As a coach and class instructor, I’ve seen Leanne experiment with different classes on the floor and she has found her own niches and gotten better at them. Leanne began to explore her strength with kettlebells. She took on challenges of heavier kettlebells as time when on. Leanne has been a regular in the Barbell Strong U classes where she has upped the strength levels further.
A recent success for her has been the Nutrition Coaching Program. Leanne took on the ‘Nutrition Bootcamp’ and sat in on the 3 consults that developed her nutrition knowledge and by the end of 4 weeks of the nutrition program, Leanne had lost 4.5kg of body weight. Girth measurements reduced and her biofeedback scores had improved also. I’d have to say as a coach, that Leanne has been a very coachable member. But it has come over time in building the trust between client and staff over time that has developed by all our long-term members.

Here is Leanne’s story in her words.
“I joined TF about 4 years ago looking to improve my flexibility, fitness, core strength and tone up. There’s a lot that I’ve picked up about health and how to improve my wellbeing. The TF community is great and it’s friendly here. I’ve got to know a good physiotherapist from the group that helped me with my hip bursitis. I’ve picked up a lot of knowledge of how to move, how to lift correctly, gaining back movement from doing classes that use the foam roller and spikey ball. The nutrition knowledge has helped a lot also in knowing my food and choices that better suit me and going through the nutrition coaching program and bootcamp showed me a lot of what I can do for myself. I really like the people and staff culture here. Favourite classes are THT, Core and Tabata.” – Leanne Dowdle
